Billy Mitchell is the best at Donkey Kong again.

Mitchell reclaimed the throne at the International Video Game Hall of FameVideo Game Hall of Fame’s inaugural event. He deposed the then-champion Hank Chien by 1,100 points. Mitchell racked up 1,062,800 in his quest for the throne.

Mitchell was part of the documentary “The King of Kong” that chronicles his feud with fellow “Kong” player Steve WiebeSteve Wiebe. (If you’ve not seen the film, it’s one to add to your Netflix queue immediately!)

The King of Kong is one of my favorite documentaries of all time!  Definite worth a rental by anybody whether you’re a video game fan or not.

No.  Not U-R.

Usually, it’s F-U-N.

Granted, chfunch isn’t a word, but fun is often a forgotten dynamic in creating a worship experience.  Typically, most churches aim for reverence.

I’m all for reverence, but fun is much more disarming.  If you create a fun experience up front in the service, the crowd will be much more engaged throughout their time with you.

An example of this is the following video we played at Buckhead Church from Tripp and Tyler near the beginning of Sunday’s service.  There really wasn’t a point, other than just having fun.

Many people push back on the idea of fun in church, and instead argue for reverence.  My experience is that fun leads to engagement, which ultimately leads to an opportunity for greater reverence at the end of a service.

Most endings of Lost cause me to shake my head and wonder what in the world is going on, but I always come back for more.

The latest episode, “Everybody Loves Hugo” was awesome but what got me the most was the promo afterward. They played the creepiest promo ever featuring that disturbing Willy Wonka scene in the tunnel.

I love Lost! I’m glad to see it end though, I don’t think my brain can take much more. Oh, and this summer Tina and I will be watching the whole series from the start again!
